-- Hi Quixote, yeah, you have to install a method for the N900 to find the kernel you wish to boot. uboot13 is really simple (though it was a bit trickier when using the kernel-power package). If you wish to reset your N900, flashing it with original firmware should do the trick to get the "untouched" property.

I need reassurance: If I install to sdcard using the raw image write, insert the card in my N900, then will it boot off the card without me doing anything else?

Hi Quixote, yeah, you have to install a method for the N900 to find the kernel you wish to boot. uboot13 is really simple (though it was a bit trickier when using the kernel-power package).
